UW Grout is designed for underwater use in tidal zones in applications requiring a non-shrink, non-metallic, wash-out resistant grout in thicknesses from 1/2” up to several inches.
UW Grout is specially formulated for minimal wash-out and is salt-water resistant.
Features & Benefits
• Positive expansion for maximum durability and adhesion
• Free-flowing or pumpable consistency for easy application
• High early and ultimate strength for fast repair and turn around without chlorides
• “Wash-out” resistant thixotropic consistency for dependable underwater repairs (displaces water)
Application
UW Grout is recommended for:
- Grouting of bridge columns, concrete pilings, and dam repairs.
- Applications where a resistant, free-flowing, or pumpable non-shrink grout is required, especially in underwater settings.
Preparation and Application
- Surface Preparation: The substrate must be clean and sound, with all loose material removed. Use sandblasting or high-pressure water jetting for surfaces permanently immersed in water.
- Mixing: Use 7 to 7.5 pints of water per 50 lb bag to achieve a flowable consistency. Mix with a mechanically powered grout mixer and ensure continuous operation to prevent setting delays.
- Placing: UW Grout can be dry-packed, poured, or pumped. Utilize a flexible tube for placement to ensure even distribution and to minimize water entrapment.
Curing and Limitations
- No curing is required for applications submerged in water.
- For above-water applications, cover with wet rags immediately after setting, followed by an ASTM C309-91 compliant curing compound.
Packaging
- Available in 50 lb bags and 3000 lb super stacks.
Shelf Life
- Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Properly stored, UW Grout has a shelf life of one year.
